I had an experience lately that made me feel sick. I spoke with an editor that I used to write for about a piece on my blog that they wanted to publish. I mentioned that I also write for another magazine (their competitor) but that I never share the same article with both. She got upset and said she wanted exclusive writers that only write for her (not something I can afford to do!) so she passed on my article. A week later I noticed the same article on her website, with one word changed in the title! I read it and although it has been rewritten to look a bit different, all the information is the same as mine, and the structure is the same even down to subtitles.

It’s different enough that I can’t claim plagiarism but I certainly feel robbed.
