Marrying Her is Not Going to Save Her

…anyway, you only met last week

I thought it was a joke when you said you’re getting married today. I’d never even heard her mention you.

What kind of guy asks a girl to marry them on the first date? This is real life, not some reality show. Are you mentally unstable? A narcissist love-bombing with immediate marriage proposals? I’ve been mentally ticking off the red-flags — from the little I know about you. If you are an abuser, you wouldn’t be the first one she’s picked.

Maybe you’re fine. Not an abuser. Just a guy. Another guy, in the long line of guys, who want to rescue her. Here’s a heads up.

You can’t.

Not you, not the last guy, not the next one and — I can tell you this with 100% certainty — you will not save her by marrying her.

She thinks all she needs is a husband. That being married will magically cure every evil — every painful, dark and difficult part of her chaotic world. The chaos that started internally and is now matched externally. The chaos that follows her like a magnet. Attracted to her with the same power that men, like you, seem to be drawn in by.

“What’s the rush,” I asked. “I don’t get why you’d want to sign the papers so quickly. Why not get to know each other better first?”
