One of my daughters never wanted to play "mummies and babies" but the other always wanted to and turns everything into a baby. Her and my step son both loved playing parents and babies and making up elaborate games. I offered a hugely wide range of options, this is one of the games they chose. I don't think that's weird. Kids mimic the adult world often in their games.
